Cake Sale!

Chris let me open my Christmas present early so I could make some cakes for a fund raiser at work.
Both of these cakes are 6IN round, 4IN tall, white cake, with buttercream frosting, white fondant, and Wilton Sugar sheets. I used my new Cricut Cake cutter to cut the Sugar Sheets. I didn't even start baking these until 7PM so please be forgiving about any mistakes you see. I was up until 3AM. I was loving the Cricut Cake.

Pizza Party Cake!

This is a cake, not a pizza. White cake, buttercream frosting is the crust and red buttercream for the pizza sauce. The cheese is grated white chocolate. The olives, pepperoni, and mushrooms were all made out of modeling chocolate. Modeling chocolate is a mix of chocolate and corn syrup. The crust and mushrooms were dusted with cocoa powder for looks the crust was also dusted with yellow powdered food coloring. This was for the same lady I made the Mario cake for.

First cake in a while. Made about 5 months ago.

For a while now just the thought of making a cake brought on morning sickness. I am starting to get over it now and made my first cake in, what has felt like, months. Another awesome referral from Nathan Brian has resulted in this guitar cake. Its chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. Frets, pick gaurd, and nobs are all Gum Paste.

Bridal Shower Cake.

This cake was for a Bridal shower the only thing they gave me to work with was number of servings, the colors they wanted, and the cake flavor. I had originally planned something completly different but this was okay too.
This is a 9 In. round chocolate cake with a chocolate buttercream frosting. The top was a 6 In. also all chocolate. I am pretty sure this was my first cake with a tier, so a bit of a learning curve is to be expected especially since everything I learned about cake decorating came from watching YouTube.

Happy Mother's Day Part 2!

A friend saw the cake I made for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day and asked if I could make a similar one for his wife. This cake is a strawberry cake with fresh strawberries and vanilla cream filling with a strawberry butter-cream frosting. The bottom cake is a 9 in. round covered in pettinice pondant. The cake on top is also covered in fondant the ribbon is made of gumpaste. The tulips and two leaves are also gumpaste. The "dirt" is ground up oreo.

Happy Mothers Day!

I made this cake as a present for my Mother-in-law for Mothers day. It is her favorite flower and her favorite cake (lemon). I am not sure if she will enjoy the lemon butter-cream frosting but I hope so.
I have had this cake planned for almost a month. It didn't turn out exactly how I had hoped but upon first glance my mother-in-law thought it was a real pot of flowers. I was pretty happy with the results. The pictures I took did not turn out that well so I am putting all five I took on here hoping one of them shows details better.

Super hero cakes.

I know you might have seen my Spiderman Cake already but I was in the mood to do more heros. It was a lot of fun.
This is smaller than the one I gave to the kid in my primary class. This is a 6 in. round about 3 in. tall

This was harder to do than spiderman because of the S on the shield. Cutting it wasn't a problem but transferring it from where I cut it was.

This one was similar to Superman it was easier to cut out than the S but transferring the Bat from where it was cut without stretching was difficult.

Overall I was really happy with how they turned out. I was told the Batman was tasty as well. Which I worried about because of the black coloring for the fondant.

Spiderman Cake

I made this for a kid in my primary classes birthday. My first time using Pettinice Fondant. Pettinice is really tasty. I am not sure how much I love the texture though it is really soft which is great for eating but is a little scary to work with. I am really happy about how it turned out it went on the cake perfectly, so I can't really complain.

The cake has buttercream underneath. The best tasting I have made so far. The webbing and eyes are also buttercream. The balls around the bottom the blue coving the cake and Spideman's face shape are all fondant. The black on and surrounding Spiderman's face are also buttercream. (8in. round 3 1/4 in tall.)

Dusted flowers

The flowers on this cake were made in white gumpaste/fondant. I dusted them with petal dust. Green, yellow, and brown. The brown was actually cocoa powder. The leaves were a bright green. I just dipped them in the cocoa powder. I didn't dust them off too well, thats why they looked like they are covered in dirt. They cake was easy to make and fun. I am really excited to be learning how to make flowers for cakes.

The first star cake I made.

We were in Micheal's craft store and Henry (my son) saw the Lighning McQueen pan and wouldn't let it go even for the cashier to ring it up. I was so excited to try out a shaped pan. The instructions were very easy to follow. I really loved making this cake. Henry and the kids loved looking at it and hopefully eating it. This is one of two birthday cakes for Henry.
This is Henry's other birthday cake. Also very easy but no instructions I came up with this one on my own.

The first cake I sold

I got a call from  a friend saying his co-worker was looking for someone to make a cake that would match their daughters dress. The girls mother said she wanted a cupcake sort of cake and the colors were pink and brown. This is what I came up with.
